he mid-range device packs some decent features and yet remains affordable to most smartphone users. It is powered by MTK6753 64bit 1.3GHz Octa Core processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The device runs on android 5.1 lollipop and the device comes with a 5.5 inch Full HD display among other niceties such as a fingerprint sensor and Dual SIM 4G LTE.
The build quality of the Ulefone is solid giving it a premium look thanks to the use of metal and glass. The device comes in three different colors dark blue, white and oak wooden back, it’s a plastic but colored with a wooden like color. It measures 6.1 x 3.03 x 0.37 inches and weighs 190 grams. This is a bit heavy compared to other smartphones in the market, but this is primarily because of the massive battery.
The Ulefone is powered by the MediaTek MT6753, which runs at 1.3GHz on all 8 cores. Although not a high-end chip the MT6753 is nippy and responsive giving the phone a fluid responsive feel. The 3GB of RAM installed in the device keeps the phone running smoothly without slowing down. There is 16GB of internal storage that is expandable to 128GB using an external memory card to create more space to keep your files, photos and music.
However, the SD Card takes up the second SIM slot. For gaming, the ARM Mali-T720 GPU does not offer the best experience as some of the games stutter. Luckily, Ulefone is working resolve the issue with subsequent over-the-air OTA updates.
In terms of connectivity, there is a 2.0 Micro USB for pairing the device with desktop computers, a Micro SD/SDHC/SDXC slot for expanding the storage externally, a 3.5mm audio port to insert your earphones.
The device supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 for sharing and transfer of data with compatible devices. The phone supports all the three networking types namely 2G, 3G and 4G. Additionally, the phone also supports USB OTG so you can connect your HDD or USB drive when needed.
The 5.5 inch 1920x1080p display has 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 for protection from scratches and lets you enjoy a premium feel. Images on the screen appear vibrant and it has wide viewing angles with the presence of an IPS capacitive screen.
The highlight point of the Ulefone lies on its powerful non-removable battery manufactured by Sony with a capacity of 6050mAh. The device can give you around four days of power with medium usage, this is unheard of when it comes to smartphones therefore, placing the Ulefone slightly above the competition. Interestingly it takes around two hours to get a full charge and a 5 minutes charge using the quick-charge charger will give you around 2 hours of phone usage.
The Ulefen features a 13MP sony IMX214 rear camera that is decent enough to take good outdoor photos. The front side has a 5MP camera equipped with OmniVision OV5648 that is also powerful enough to take good pictures and comes in handy for chatting through programs such as Skype.
The picture formats supported by the Power include BMP, GIF, JPEG and PNG whereas the Video formats include 3GP, AVI, MP4 and WMV. The music player on the Power is quite basic but good enough for most regular users. Listening to music using Ulofen is a reality as it supports a variety of music formats including AAC, MP2, MP3, OGG and WAV.
Additional features worth noting include a fast and accurate finger-print sensor placed at the back of the device that ensures your private data is safe and unlocks in less than 0.3 seconds. There is an IR (infrared Sensor) which works as a universal remote controller. As such, you can use the smartphone to control other devices such as the garage door or your TV set in the house.
