The iBuyPower Pro Y60 is quite a machine. It might not be the most powerful gaming PC around to shame this year’s RTX 4080/90-powered rigs like the Lenovo Legion T5 or the Alienware Aurora R15, but it’s a capable, good-looking desktop that does what it’s supposed to and does it pretty well. On top of that, the price is quite reasonable.

Being a mid-range gaming desktop, it does have a few drawbacks such as the limitations that are inherent in mid-range hardware. Beyond that, our review unit packs some powerful components inside the HYTE Y60, a mid-tower case from iBuyPower that’s nearly all tempered glass on two sides, making it look like a Sci-fi behemoth.

It’s the same case used on our favorite CyberpowerPC GXiVR8080A34 – it’s a bit heavy and unwieldy to move around, but once you have it in place, it offers enough room to work in and looks beautiful to the core.

But that’s just what this PC is for – solid performance, beautiful styling, and a great price. Our review unit is one of iBuyPower’s “Gaming RDY” pre-built ready-to-ship systems. With an RTX 4070 GPU and Intel i9-13900KF processor, it delivers good gaming and productivity performance for the price, but if you want more and have some spare cash, you can always pay iBuyPower to build you a custom PC with the parts you want.

iBuyPower Pro Y60 Review case

iBuyPower Pro Y60 Specs as reviewed

  • Model: PB-Y60BI9N47-01
  • Processor: Intel i9-13900KF
  • RAM: 32 GB 5200 MHz DDR5
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 12GB
  • Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD
  • Accessories: RGB Keyboard & mouse
  • Size: ‎18 x 11.2 x 18.2 inches
  • Weight: ‎38 pounds

Design and Features

The HYTE Y60 is an almost all-glass encased behemoth that looks like an expensive fish tank with neon lights. Available for sale separately via Hyte’s website for $199, the Y60 isn’t your standard tower case: It measures 18.2 x 17.95 x 11.2 inches and takes some bit of space. But if you’re the type of person who likes to flaunt your PC’s innards, you’ll love the spacious footprint of the Y60, which is a unique trio of glass panels spread along the left and front that let you a clear view of the internals without any pillar blocking your view.

Getting inside the case is pretty simple: Just remove the side panel, each held in place by a single security screw on the back of the case. As ever, the amount of heat and noise generated depends on what you put inside the case, but our review unit does kick out more heat than expected during extended gaming sessions. The RTX 4070 GPU is no slouch, but the PC doesn’t get loud, which is impressive as you don’t have to use headphones regularly.

iBuyPower Pro Y60 Review side

The iBuyPower Pro Y60 has a case that’s beautiful and roomy, and that means you get lots of ports. On the front of the case, there’s a pair of USB 3.0 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, and an audio/mic jack near the power button. You get more ports at the back: a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 port (1 x USB Type-C), a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, a pair of USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and a pair of USB-A 2.0 ports.

You also get a DisplayPort and HDMI out, over five types of audio jacks, a 2.5Gb Ethernet port, an Optical S/PDIF out port, and a traditional PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse combo port. Also bundled into the package is a wireless gaming mouse/keyboard combo. You’ll have to buy a monitor separately.

Gaming Performance

Our iBuyPower Pro Y60 review unit packs a solid feature set for both gaming and productivity. Packed into the HYTE Y60 case is a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-1390KF processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 (12GB) GPU, 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD storage. It doesn’t struggle to play Apex Legends, Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding, and other games in 1080p at buttery-smooth 60+ fps framerates.

Playing games in 4K doesn’t strain the Intel Core i9 CPU and RTX 4070 GPU, and most graphically demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 oscillate between 30-60fps at higher resolution. Most games look fantastic, especially when paired with the Acer Predator XB323QK, a 32-inch 4K display that’s one of the best gaming monitors on the market right now.

If you want to play the latest and greatest games in 4K at rock-solid 60 fps, you can buy the iBuyPower SlateMono 307i, kitted with an Intel Core i9-13900KF, Nvidia RTX 4080 (16GB), 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD + 2TB storage. The Skytech Azure is yet another solid pick for 4K gameplay, featuring an RTX 4090 GPU, an Intel Core i9-13900K, and a 1200W Gold PCIE 5.0 PSU that make it future-proof.

iBuyPower Pro Y60 Review fronted

In simple terms, with a generous budget, alternatives in the custom-built gaming PC niche are many, and they come full-kitted and more powerful than even some mainstream rivals from brands like HP and Lenovo. Again, these custom-built alternatives now come with standard parts, and the fact that you can customize one with different makes them more appealing for future upgrades.

Finally, the beefy components that help the iBuyPower Pro Y60 churn through the latest games give it more than enough power to tackle most day-to-day work tasks. With an Intel Core i9-1390KF processor and 32GB RAM, you’ll not notice any slowdown in performance, even when multitasking between Chrome with 30+ tabs open and Adobe Photoshop while watching a 4K video on a second display.

iBuyPower Pro Y60 Review: Verdict

If you’ve got ample space on your desk and fancy the idea of a PC that showcases its intricate innards with all the lights and glamour of a casino, you may want to consider the iBuyPower Pro Y60 – over everything else. It’s pretty bold, imposing, and insanely powerful. As someone who enjoys pre-built gaming PCs but isn’t overly obsessed over framerates or resolution, I still find this rig a pleasure to use – but I also understand that the price tag does justify buying a pre-built that can pull off excellent 1080p and some consistent framerates at 4K.

On the other hand, you can also buy this pre-built and use it until you save up enough cash to upgrade it. That can’t be said about the iBuyPower Revolt 3, however, which comes in a more compact case that’s much more to work with. And considering you can sometimes find the iBuyPower Pro Y60 on sale, this is excellent value for a fully-fledged RTX 4070 PC that performs well compared to others of its ilk.

If you’re like me and building your custom PC is entirely out of the question in 2023 or beyond, the iBuyPower Pro Y60 will give you the muscle you need to run modern titles at over 60 fps, and you don’t have to break your bank in the process.

The Review

iBuyPower Pro Y60

4.2 Score

The iBuyPower Pro Y60 is a great gaming PC if all you need is a nice-looking system that runs games well while showcasing what’s inside in full glamour. It’s unwieldy to move around, but once it’s set up on your desk, it’s great to work within and easy to configure.

PROS

  • Looks sleek with three-side tempered glass
  • Easy to upgrade
  • Tons of ports
  • Great gaming and productivity performance

CONS

  • A little unwieldy
  • Can get hot
