5 Games You’d Really Buy in April

As we move into the second quarter, there is more to expect in Tech. We are looking at new product releases, Apple’s powertrain momentum becoming a reality – after hiring Tesla’s VP of Engineering and more. Looks like it will be an exciting month ahead.

For those of us who find joy in side-scrolling shooters to post-apocalyptic survival tactics, there are some best titles arriving in April. That makes us happy.

If anything, March was a solid month for gamers, particularly on the action front. It brought to us devil May Cry 5 with its top-class melee action, innovative combo systems, and superb visuals. It is in the same month that folks from Software unleashed Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a game that caught us by surprise with its armored gameplay, beefy combat system and unrivaled game word. Sure, Sekiro and MDC5 are both so content-savvy that they will provide fans with gaming sweetness into April and Beyond.

But don’t get comfortable with that yet. April has a bag full of goodies, with new remastered titles. If you’re into fighting, you must be awaiting the launch of Mortal Kombat 11, which features revamped and offensive mechanics, including story mode, that takes you on a journey back to MK9.

For classics, Square Enix will be delivering a few iconic RPGs in the coming weeks. And, there’s still more; below, we’ve listed five games that you shouldn’t miss.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster

Platform: Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

Release Date: April 16

The Remaster Version brings the timeless classics forward to the current generation of fans, old and new alike.

It tells the story of a star blitzball player, Tidus, who journeys with a young and beautiful summoner named Yuna on her quest to save the world of Spira from an endless cycle of destruction wrought by the colossal menace Sin.

FINAL FANTASY X-2 returns to the world of Spira two years after the beginning of the Eternal Calm. Having been shown a mysterious but familiar image in a sphere, Yuna becomes a Sphere Hunter and along with her companions Rikku and Paine, embarks on a quest around the world to find the answers to the mystery within.

Cuphead

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Release Date: April 18

Cuphead is an excellent run-and-gun styled shooter, with particular focus on boss fights. It is among the best games around with fantastic noodle-armed cartoon visuals, perfect soundtrack, and intense gameplay, all that puss this game to the top of the class, especially considering that there are few games with this style anymore.

If you’re a starter and can make it past the tutorial, rest assured that you’re better placed than a couple of professional game journalists.

Mortal Kombat 11

Platform: PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch

Release Date: April 23

Have you been riding on the MK11 beta? If not, you’ve already missed out as the servers are closing on the 1st of April 2019. If you need to register some fatalities, you’d better grab the grab at launch on April 23. For now, we’ve gathered that Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and Jax will be returning to the franchise, with an insider’s comment of the story using time manipulation made possible by newcomer Geras.

Now, Mortal Kombat 11 launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, and preorder customers will earn Shao Khan as a bonus character.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Release Date: April 23

Finally, Capcom is bringing Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, to Nintendo Switch on April 23. This 2013 Western role-playing game-inspired action game will include all previously released content and DLC. The new release brings with it a “revamped user interface” that promises improved screen visibility on Switch, hopefully making the game’s UI more readable when played in portable or tabletop mode.

However, content-wise it looks like the game is identical to the first hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 releases from 2013. Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen was built on the original Dragon’s Dogma, first released in 2012.

Days Gone

Days Gone

Platform: PS4

Release Date: April 26

How dangerous can life get? If you want to go rogue and see the dangerous side of life, April 26 release of Days Gone will drive you right into the post-apocalyptic, third-person shooter scene. All that happens after a pestilent virus wipes out most of humankind and mutated them into a barbaric, murderous, and mindless zombies. Worse than the Walking Dead’s Cold Day in Hell.

Whatever happens, whichever way it comes, you still need to survive the apocalypse. A little bird just whispered that the few humans left are lethargic, dangerous and just as hostile. Shoot! Shoot! Shoot and run.
